Breakaway 2010

Announced 9 January 2010, Breakaway is the competition all FRC teams are competing in this season. The game is played in an arena with three zones. There is a zone for both three-team alliances, as well as the neutral zone in the middle of the arena. Large bumps divide the zones, but tunnels offer an easy way to navigate the field. The objective of the game is to shoot soccer footballs in to the opponent’s two goals, while defending your own alliance’s goal. There are also towers above the two tunnels, and robots can either climb on the platform underneath the tower or suspend themselves from the tower to incur additional points at the end of the match. Hanging a robot from another robot scores even more points.
